The Four Matte Lipsticks I Actually Wear

When the matte lipstick crave took wind last year I did my best to play along. I swatched and re-swatched Anastasia and Kat Von D until my hand looked like Rainbow Brite. I invested in lip scrubs and creams to get the perfect application. I ogled over the looks in my news feed that involved a Kylie lip kit and crisp winged liner. However, no matter how much liquid lipstick I applied it never failed that I felt somewhat bummed at the results. Glossy lips vs. matte lips is like comparing Ryan Reynolds to Gosling. Lets face it, both are great (and Canadian) but you somehow always fall in one love category vs the other.

Thankfully for me and my affinity towards a matte lip look I was able to narrow down the brands that worked. Enter: four matte lipsticks that I actually can wear the whole way through. All of these formulas are similar in the fact that they are thin, don’t need too much prep work, and are fairly affordable. I also find that they sit comfortably on the lip without feeling like I need to slather on chapstick.
