Glossier “Pure” Serum | First Review

When my favorite “cool girl” brand Glossier releases a new product I am all on board. I’ve been an avid lover of the pantone pink brand for a while now, not only for their amazing branding but also for their simple approach to skincare. Everything I’ve bought so far has exceeded my expectations and resulted in numerous reorders and me anxiously awaiting the UPS delivery guy. The latest addition to their product line is the Supers – a trio of serums.

Serums can be described basically as supplements for your face. They’re strong, fast-absorbing, and jam packed with nutrients to boost your skin. My favorite part about Glossier’s take on serums is that they believe in the theory that you are not just a skin type. Instead, your skin and its needs constantly changes and requires different treatments along the way.

Enter the three separate products and benefits of the line…

Super Glow | Key ingredients include Vitamin C and Magnesium; use to brighten and revitalize skin (i.e. when your skin feels tired and dull)

Super Pure | Key ingredients include niacinamide and zinc; use to soothe and clear skin (i.e. when you’re stressed, hormonal, or just ate a ton of McDonalds nugs)

Super Bounce | Key ingredients include hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5; use to hydrate your skin (i.e. when you’re coming off a bender of a weekend and your skin is thirsty AF)

Before these products were even announced I was already on the hunt for a serum to add into my routine. Thankfully the “Super Pure” seemed right up my alley to alleviate any redness and buildup in pores. Straight to cart it went.

I feel like I don’t even need to mention my thoughts on the packaging since, well, LOOK AT IT. Not only does the glass bottle feel weighty and comes with a convenient dropper applicator, it also simply looks great on my counter. If there’s one thing Glossier does well it’s branding.

Application-wise I apply 3-4 drops on my face after my nighttime cleansing and rose water spray. I then tap the product into my skin, let it set, and follow up with moisturizer. The product has a water/gel-like consistency which feels substantial but sinks so well into the skin.

After application I feel my skin is more balanced, softer, and smoother – which is just what I’m looking for. I haven’t noticed a major difference in redness after using it for a week but my skin just feels so nice. The best part is that you can use multiple products within the line to target different areas of your face. For example, I would likely use “Super Pure” on my cheeks and T-zone and then “Super Glow” on the rest of my face.

I think my favorite part of the formula is that it has key ingredients but isn’t harsh. Most products that promise breakout reduction tend to be filled with ‘hard’ ingredients that can leave skin feeling tight or dry. Instead, the “Super Pure” is paraben free, fragarance free, and not tested on animals. Now that’s something I can get down with.

Currently you can snag all three of the Supers on Glossier for $68 – which I think is a major deal. Normally serums can run from $40-$100 solo, so getting the pack for under $70 is amazing! If you’re going for more of an individual approach then each Super is retailing for $38.
