Ah Summer, you’ve been so good to me so far. In the beauty world these few months is the season is break out your dewiest, glossiest, golden-ist products. It’s the time to accentuate the tan you’ve acquired while soaking in the weekends and to convey that ‘fresh off the sand’ look – even if you’re nowhere near the beach. Personally Summer is one of my favorite seasons for makeup since a little goes a long way.
I’ve gotten into a really good groove with my makeup picks lately and wanted to share them in this space. All are great quality products that can work year-round, but are especially beautiful come this time of year:
Becca Backlight Priming Filter
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Le Teint Foundation
Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour
TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter
Tanya Burr Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette, “Birthday Suit”
Tanya Burr Cosmetics Lip Gloss, “Picnic in the Park“
Dior Miss Dior Eau de Parfum
I’ve been looking for a new primer for a while now and fell in love with a sample of the Becca Backlight Priming Filter. It gives a glowy finish (almost like a glazed donut) that looks so healthy once you layer foundation on-top: especially the YSL Touche Eclat one. This foundation was another sample I received and swore I’d never color match with. However, some long days in the sun away from the city has left me with a tan that’s deep enough to FINALLY go up in foundation shades. Let’s be real, that’s when you know you’ve finally made it into Summer (it just only took me until the end of August…). This foundation is so gorgeous and runs up there with my Dior DiorSkin serum foundation. The formula is super lightweight – almost watery – but gives really great coverage. It is definitely a #yourskinbutbetter foundation and I just may have to splurge for the full-size.
With such a creamy and lightweight base I knew I had to break out my cream contour. I’ve been an avid fan of the Clinique Sculpting Contour for a while now and it always comes out during Summer. The stick applicator makes it so easy and clean to apply on the go, so it constantly ends up in my travel bag. The formula blends out super easily and never looks orange. I then follow over with a light sweep of bronzer and my Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter for that super sun-kissed look.
I tend to keep my eyes and lips fairly natural looking with such a glowy base. I have been absolutely loving my picks from the Tanya Burr line – so much so that I’ve debated purchasing another round of everything! Her Birthday Suit palette is the perfect natural eye look and is so easy to apply (i’ve listed out my go-to routine in this full post if you want to hear more). I then apply a layer of her Picnic in the Park gloss for a hydrated and pink pout.
Lastly, a spritz of the Miss Dior fragarance is the perfect finishing touch. This scent is definitely heavier than my usual go-to of Elizabeth and James Nirvana White, so I tend to save it for nighttime or days when I’m not in crowded spaces. But anytime I spray it I can’t stop smelling myself! Its notes of citrus and jasmine are perfect for the Summertime and feel so elegant – like all Dior products.
I have a feeling I’m going to ride these products out for the next month or so, until it’s time to break out the Fall favorites. However, I know they’ll definitely be back in my stash for Summer ’17 (as they always are!) What are your favorite Summer products so far?
