For anyone who’s been around here for a while you know my obsession with balmy pink lip products. Give me something bubblegum-colored and glossy and I’ll sell you my soul. Usually that comes in the form of my trusted Clinique Chubby Stick in “Woppin’ Watermelon”. I roll through at least one of these a month and can’t seem to get enough. In case you want to hear more about my love for this balm you can read here, here, and here.
However, lately I’ve found a glossy contender to stand in the same spotlight as the balm. Enter Dior’s Addict Lip Maximizer High Volume Lip Plumper. 7 words: 1 great product. This rich gloss is like the Mary Kate to the Ashley of lip combos. The formula hosts collagen and marine-based fillers to smooth and plump up your lips. It even states that after 15 days of use you’ll find your lips looking noticeably fuller and defined. I can vouch for that. For a while I wondered how I could remotely wear this weeks in advance – especially with the flood of lip products I own – but I find that I can not only use it as a top gloss, but a balmy under layer or just on its own. Now, will you get Kylie lips from wear? No. But I did notice that my lips did have more ‘oomph’ to them.
Color-wise the gloss is a super sheer pink tint – almost clear as you can see in the swatches below. I do wish it had a bit more of a pink tint but I find it nice when layering over other lipstick shades.
Swatches below (L to R):
Clinique’s Chubby Stick, Woppin’ Watermelon
Dior’s Addict Lip Maximizer High Volume Plumper, Pink 001
Both layered on top of each other
Price-wise the gloss is a doozy. At $33 a tube, I cringed a bit when buying this the first time. However, a little bit goes a long way and remains on the lips for hours so I can imagine it lasting for a long time. If you fall in love with the tingly vanilla-mint formula like me then it’s well worth it. So much so that it’s ranked 4.3 stars out of 5 on Sephora.com.
