The Beauty Lover Tag

Last week Faith tagged me to do a post on all things beauty – and I of course obliged!  It’s always fun to look into your beauty habits and do these ‘quizzes’. Read on to see my answers + to see who else I asked to share their answers…

If you could have anyone in the world do your makeup, who would it be?

Patrick Ta, definitely. He always creates such a beautiful and natural look and seems to emphasizes a woman’s features – instead of hiding them. I love how all of his looks can go from runway to the everyday. He even has a separate Instagram account that focuses on natural beauty. Lets just say his client list of Shay Mitchell, Gigi Hadid, and Kim Kardashian speaks enough for his work!

What’s your top makeup tip?

I have to follow Faith with this one and say it’s super important to set your makeup. I use a contour kit, illuminating powder, and setting spray in my daily routine. Also, invest in skincare. You can’t have great makeup without a great base; so that means drinking lots of water and buying a moisturizer that works for your skin. I also do a peel or mask once a week to reset my skin.

What one makeup item could you not live without?

I have blonde lashes so mascara is a must for me. I tend to buy formulas that lengthen and thicken my lashes so they’re not hidden on my face (currently the Maybelline Lash Sensational is my favorite).

What one skincare item could you not live without?

I think a facial oil is imperative in my skin routine. It allows the skin to feel hydrated, without being weighed down. I also like the fact that an oil can be used to remove makeup and can also work as a moisturizer – win/win.

What are you worst at when it comes to applying makeup?

Applying lipstick! For some reason no matter what I do to apply a darker color, it always looks like a child coloring. I still haven’t mastered that perfect edge to lipstick – which is probably why I tend to emphasize my eyes and keep the lips fairly neutral.

What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to beauty?

People think that you have to spend a ton of money to be confident in your skin. Drugstore products have advanced so far in the past few years in their quality. I truly believe that as long as you find the right products for you, it doesn’t matter how much you spend. I also have a serious cringe moment anytime I see people improperly blending eyeshadow…

What’s your favorite makeup era?

I have a love affair with the 70s in general, and the makeup of this era is no exception. The 70s were divided between the hippies and disco queens – so you have a perfect blend of natural looks (think bronzer, dewy skin, and glossy lips) for day and then the ultimate glamour for disco nights (glitter, perlescent finishes, and mixing of colors).

What’s your guilty pleasure product?

The amount of shimmery bronze shadows I own is unreal. However, no matter how many of them I pick up I always find myself wanting more! Creams, powders, pigments…bring them all on.

What’s your underdog product?

The NYX Wonder Pencil is one of those products I carry around with me everywhere, but always forget to talk about. I use this for everything: brightening my under-eye, covering blemishes on the go, cleaning up eyebrows and lip liner. Also the price is under $6 so it’s such a great bargain!

What’s your favorite makeup product of 2015?

The Clinique Chubby Stick in Woppin Watermelon is my vice. I go through about five tubes of this a year and have a minor panic attack when I run out (which happened this morning). The formula is so creamy and hydrating, the color is perfectly glossy, and it’s extremely easy to apply on the go. I seriously can’t get enough of it.

I now invite Julia, Daisy, and Natalie to join in on the fun! Can’t wait to see your answers.
