Let’s talk about lipstick! As I write this post, it is uber dreary and misty out. Isn’t misty weather the worst? I feel like it’s not enough to break out the umbrella but yet it just gives you that icky frizzy feeling all day. It’s almost up there with wind as my least favorite weather type. Nothing’s worse than wind. Let’s move on shall we…
When it comes to this type of weather I always feel like motivation is low level. Take this morning for example: I rolled out of bed at the last possible minute, threw my hair in a top knot, and strategically wrapped a scarf around to cover a hole in my sweater. Things are glam.
Pre-coffee makeup usually always entails keeping everything fairly basic (not in the sense of being Starbucks lovers). On these types of days I always love pulling out one of my nude lipsticks. I feel like they’re the easiest way to look pulled together, while taking the least effort. I call that a win/win! Some of these are “true nudes”, but a lot of them contain a pinky hue – since that’s what looks best for my peachy complexion. I’ve found that it’s best to always match your products to what works for your skin. I also always like to go for a lustre finish so that it’s easy to apply and doesn’t dry out throughout the day. The best part is that majority of my favorite nude lip colors are from the drugstore, so they’re friendly to your wallet.
Here’s my current line-up (matching left to right in the photos):
H&M Lip Stain in “Gauzy Mauve”
NARS Gloss in “Chelsea Girls”
NARS Satin Lip Pencil in “Rikugien”
Too Faced La Creme Lipstick in “Nude Beach”
MAC Lip Liner in “Boldly Bare”
CoverGirl Colorlicious Jumbo Gloss Balm “Blush Twist 210”
MAC Lustre Lipstick in “Patisserie”
The CoverGirl and MAC lipsticks are my go-to for a daily lip. I also tend to always throw on the Chelsea Girls gloss (or a peachy hue) for a nice shine.
My best tip if you’re interested in finding a good nude shade is to go in and test things out. Thankfully there are so many options out there and ones for every complexion! It’s just a game of playing around with them until you find the one that works best for you. Once you do, it’s magic – windy day or not.
What’s your favorite nude shade?
