H&M Beauty Review

I know I wasn’t the only one who was super excited when H&M announced that they were creating a beauty line. Their store is the place I tend to go to when I want something specifically; since there always is such a large range at a great price! The same goes for their newest addition. It’s a collection of 700+ makeup, fragrance, hair, and bodycare pieces that have been described as “fashion for the face”. Their products also tend to range from the everyday basics to the super dramatic night-out pieces.

When I first spotted the line in my local store I knew I had to have it. First off, the packaging is so clean and lovely. The palettes remind me of the latest Tom Ford line (especially the cream blushers), with a little less of weight in the plastic. Everything is simplified in the best way possible with no cheesy branding or heavy patterns – albeit the hair and shower products are a bit more colorful.

I happened to snag three products: the cream blusher in “Dusty Rose”, cream eyeshadow in “Sirocco”,  and the lip stain in “Gauzy Mauve”

I haven’t invested in a cream blush yet so I knew snagging one at a low cost would be a good investment. I’m still not a fan of using this over any powder bases, but do like the creamy application when I wear it with a BB cream or dewy foundation. I feel like this would be a great addition to my Summer routine. I also love the color pigmentation – just one sweep on the cheeks with my fingers and I look freshly flushed.

The eyeshadow was an instant grab the second I swatched it. The color is just so creamy and easy to apply. I tend to use my fingers to smear it over the lid and blend out for an effortless bronzed eye. It can be difficult to layer – as it dries to a powdered finish – but it’s perfect when you’re on the go or looking for a lighter look.

Lastly, the lip stain was probably the one I was most excited about upon purchase. However, it does have a bit of a strange taste and is definitely more watered down than I had anticipated. Nonetheless, one swatch across your lips leaves a super long lasting color without being too intensified. I love to use this on my non-makeup days when I know I can’t be bothered with touch ups. Note: it definitely helps to scrub your lips prior to application! Otherwise, you can be left with a darker stain around the edge of your lips once it settles.

Overall the line is filled with great choices and I can’t wait to get my hands on more. I’d love to pick up one of their cream lipsticks, a bronzer, rose hand cream, and the salt water cream. See all of my other wish list picks below…
