Birchbox Unboxed | September

Another month, another box. I especially loved this month’s Birchbox since it included products from five companies that I’ve never used before. One of my favorite things about these subscription services is exactly that: getting exposed to brands that you wouldn’t normally look for. Plus, how cute is the box this month? As part of Birchbox’s five year anniversary they created the design based off on mood boards from subscribers.

100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream Eye Cream is one of those things that I always want to get into, but forget to apply. I have limited to applying this only in the morning (in fear of it keeping me up at night) but I love the instant pick-me-up this provides. With active ingredients of coffee and green tea, this diminishes fine lines and puffiness. I also love the cooling effect it provided – which adds a kick to my morning! I’m interested to try this through the next few weeks to see how it reacts.

Histoires de Parfums 1969 I have been loving the perfume that’s been coming in my box. This one first came off a bit too sweet for me, but does mellow out a few minutes after spraying. With spicy top notes and a warm chocolate base, this scent definitely warms your lungs a bit. I also love how this is a scent that works best for men and woman (since I tend to go towards more masculine smells).

treStiQue Correct & Cover Concealer Crayon in Light This is definitely my favorite of the bunch. I wouldn’t normally use this as my daily concealer, but it’s perfect for spot treating. I have been using it on top of super dark circles, any blemishes, and to clean up any eye makeup mistakes. It’s the best addition to my handbag since it can easily be used on the go! I also love how this has a thicker consistency and is so blend-able.

Laura Geller Beauty Baked Highlighter As a highlighter aficionado, I was super excited to try this one. If you’re looking for a high intensity glow (think Champagne Pop or Mary Lou Manizer) then this won’t be up your alley. However, it is perfect if you want something more subtle. It gives your skin a perfect sheen without being glittery or overdone. I think this would look beautiful on pale skin for a winter look so I’m excited to try it out later in the season.

PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Smoothing Blowout Spray My hair is pretty sensitive when it comes to products, so I try not to incorporate too many things into my routine beyond my MoroccanOil. I sprayed a bit into my hair before blowdrying and found that it kept my hair super tamed throughout the next few days. It smoothed things out and had a great smell – accents of ripe peach, cut grass, and white woods. I also was able to curl my hair the first day and then let it set into a really nice wave over the next two days. I can’t wait to continue using this and am interested to see if it fights against heat damage (something my Oil doesn’t necessarily do).

Most loved product: I couldn’t decide between the treStiQue Correct & Cover Concealer Crayon or the PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Smoothing Blowout Spray, so they both win! (the crayon may have a slight edge)

Most disappointing product: I don’t think there was a product that I truly disliked this month. However, I would probably be least likely to buy the Histoires de Parfumes 1969.

Did you receive your box? Or have you tried any of these products? What’s your favorite?
