Beauty: April Favorites

April always seems to be an awkward transition month. One day it’s Spring-like, the next you’re pulling out your winter coat to beat the chill. My make-up seemed to follow trend between creating a bit of contrast to my pale skin and also adding a pop of color in for the new season.

My favorites carry through some of my ‘oldies but goodies’ with a few new snags along the way…

Anastasia DipBrow Pomade in Taupe: I know I’ve harped on this little pot before but it really is a miracle-worker. Currently I’m using the Taupe shade – since it was all that was available when I made the purchase (circa when Sephora couldn’t keep it on the shelves). The darker color worked perfectly for the winter months but I’ll probably swap over to the Blonde shade once my hair lightens up naturally from the sun. I’ve tried other brow products but this still seems to be my favorite, hands down.
L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation in Shell Beige: This product has been blowing up on the blog radar and I completely understand why. For winter I was sticking with the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation (which I still love) but I wanted something a little lighter for the warmer days. Suzie from Hello October raved about this release from Loreal so I knew I had to check it out! I use shade Shell Beige and it is a bit dark for my complexion right now – but I hope to darken into it. The formula itself is very light-weight but provides a great coverage. It also allows for a nice sheen – which you can see in these photos from last weekend’s outfit shoot. I have a feeling this will be a winner this season. I’m looking forward to adding a bit of moisturizer to it as the season continues, as well.

NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick in Fizzies: To say I was stoked when my CVS brought out the new NYX line is an understatement. The Butter lip products have been my savior lately and this shade of “Fizzies” is perfect. It’s a coral-pink color that blends in great to the lip and leaves everything feeling hydrated. It’s also super easy to apply and carry around in your bag for touch ups.

Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour: I’ve spoke about this stick in my Glow review, but I’ve been finding myself pulling it out daily. I like the idea of using a creamy bronzer as the weather heats up and am interested to see it’s longevity.

Urban Decay Shadow in Lost: Another long-loving product. I’ve been gearing towards neutral colors lately, but this shadow is great for when I want something a little bit bolder. I usually layer it with a fluffy shadow brush into my crease and onto my lower lash line to get a great smoky color – without looking like Jenny Humphrey circa Season 2.

Maybelline New York Ultra-Liner Liquid Liner in Black: Liquid liner is the perfect way to clean things up when it comes to my eyes. I’ve been using this product since Junior High and it hasn’t let me down yet. It’s a bit less pigmented than some of the more expensive products, but I’m obsessed with the application brush. It is basically like a very thin paint brush that you can easily drag and create a flick with. If anyone has a product with the same application, but higher pigment, let me know! I’d love to test it out. BONUS: this is also water-proof!

NYX Cosmetics Slide On Eye Pencil in Black: I’ve been using less and less of lower liner lately – relying mainly on a drag of eyeshadow on my lower lashes. However, when I do pull it out this NYX product is the one I grab. It is super creamy, easy to apply, and long-lasting. I also feel like it doesn’t give you raccoon eyes after a long day.

Do you use any of these products? If not, what has been in your make-up bag lately? Let me know below!
