Winter Black

Sometimes my favorite outfits come in one color: black. There can be many imitations (I’m looking at you, Elle Woods) but I still think it can be the chicest color. On Thursday we received about four inches of snow and the area was blanketed into a winter wonderland. I knew we had to take advantage of it so during lunchtime me + Lydia strolled around and played in the snow.

This puffer coat is by-far one of my best investment pieces. I had gotten it for Christmas a few years back from Lands End and it is the warmest and most practical thing ever. I always know that no matter how cold it is out, this thing does the trick. Most puffer coats can seem a little bulky – I mean you’re basically wearing a comforter – so the seatbelt clasp on this one definitely helps from looking like a square.

I also love that the hood is uber versatile! It originally came with a fur add-on which you can use, remove (as I have here), or even remove the hood completely. The fleece-lined pockets are also perfect for hiding your frozen hands – especially if you’re like me and have to throw snow in the air *.

The best part about this day was deciding to go down the snow-covered slide. For what seemed like a good idea at the time, that baby was FAST. Everything looked fine-and-dandy until I got about halfway down the slide and flew off the end of it.
