Easy Resolutions: Skincare

Hope you all have been keeping warm during these past few chilly days! We finally received our first real snowfall in the District last night and woke up to a winter wonderland. Unfortunately with the beauty of snow-covered grounds comes dropping temperatures and bringing out the space heaters – both which can drastically dry out your skin.

For my second simple step to bettering myself in 2015 (click here for the first post) I wanted to focus on skincare. I have always had a combination skin type which tends to get dry in the summer and also again in the winter. It has been difficult to nail down a moisturizing process that could fit easily into my daily routine without breaking the bank. Thankfully this Christmas brought me presents from Sephora – including a Naked 3 palette I’ll review on the blog later – and several samples of new beauty products. I opened up a moisturizer from Clinique and immediately fell in love. It’s called the “Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief” and it’s cream gel formula became my face’s soulmate. For those looking for a fix to dry winter skin, I highly recommend this type. The coverage was never too heavy and immediately left my skin baby smooth.

However, I have also been blessed with a rosy complexion and knew I needed something a little more if I was going to splurge on this product. Since I loved the gel formula of the “Thirst Relief” and was impressed with the Clinique brand I did some research on other products they had out there. In comes the “Redness Solutions Daily Relief” cream. After doing some reading I learned that this oil-free face cream was proven to soothe redness prone skin and was loved by those who had used it. After I received the product in the mail I was so excited to try it out! The application itself was super easy and smooth, the consistency was moisturizing without being too heavy, and the smell is refreshing and cool. Overall, it was love at first application. I find myself usually applying it at night and then washing it off in the morning – which is a super simple step in my daily routine.

I’m excited to see how the product progresses with my skin and how it works into the warmer months, but I highly recommend it for those looking for a little redness relief!

Another bonus sample in my Sephora pack was the “Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream“. I’m not kidding when I say that this has changed my life. It is the #1 selling hand cream in Japan and has made its way into my heart and daily routine. The formula is super smooth and doesn’t overly grease your hands up. At only $16 or so for a large bottle, this also is a great investment as you only need a little dab at a time. The only semi down-point is the smell. It has a faint relation to the Burt’s Bees lip balm but is easy to get over – especially if you enjoy it!

What are your favorite skin care products for the winter months? I hope these two help give you a start to a healthy glow – even in the cold!

P.S. I have been trying to fix a glitch where I can’t respond to comments but I still appreciate the feedback! I’m hoping to work my magic soon so I can be up and running

Gorgeous photos Sarah! The greens are so pretty. Clinique makes some awesome moisturizers for sure. I used the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief for ages but had to switch to something to help with changes in my skin. The gel texture of their moisturizers is my favorite though!!xx
