Sequins and Champagne

Happy 2015 everyone! I hope you had a fantastic time last night and are catching up on your beauty sleep. I’m spending my morning re-hydrating and relaxing my feet from lots of high heeled adventuring around the city. My night was spent with a group of some of my best friends at a beautiful rented mansion in the District. Living in a city, we’re very fortunate to know people (who know people) who like to dress up and have a good time.

Between lots of champagne toasts and showers of confetti, there was also a lot of glamour. The event itself was black tie – which is always a great excuse to brush off your best dress or suit. Emerald has always been a beautiful color to me so leading up to NYE I really wanted to find a dress in that shade. Luckily I did a little searching on Google and stumbled upon this sequined number on ShopAKIRA. I was a little hesitant at first since I hadn’t heard of the site before but I took the plunge anyway.

I couldn’t have been happier when the dress arrived.

A problem with sequined dresses is that they usually can become scratchy or can look costume-y. However, the detail work on this dress is phenomenal and the material itself was a great quality. With a fabric under layer, I was able to keep warm throughout the 30 degree weather when venturing out to the rooftop.

Best part? The dress comes in four other colors – including a Burgundy colored beaut (think Pantone color of the year 2015).

Paired with a nude nail, opaque tights, stacked rings, and strappy heels, this was the perfect sparkly way to celebrate in the countdown. What was your favorite part of last night? Let me know in the comments below!
