My Style Inspiration

When it comes to fashion I'm constantly looking for new inspiration. I feel like my looks range from uber feminine to edgy based on my mood. One day I'll pull a drapey dress and block heels and the next will be ripped denim with sneakers. Isn't that what fashion is all about - expressing yourself and trying new things?

There are three trends that I tend to lean towards: classic femininity, boho chic, and edgy basics. I usually stick to one of these categories for a full outfit but also love mixing for a new twist on things. I also try to dress for my shape and have a good eye for what looks best on me. As I get older, it's definitely quality over quantity. However I also love to have fun with trends!

Today I wanted to share three of my go-to style icons that I feel fit my closet the best (or at least who fill my Pinterest boards). These ladies know how to werk an outfit and are always so pulled together. Now, if only I can raid their closets...

Classic Femininity
Key Influencer: Julia Engel of "Gal Meets Glam"

Who's that girl? San-Francisco based fashion and beauty blogger
Where can I find her? Drinking rose in romantic places such as Italy, Hawaii, and Paris
How does she describe her style? "My style is very feminine and classic, not so much dependent on trends. I really try and dress for my body and just go with what I’m initially drawn to and what catches my eye. My style has evolved over the years and the older I get, the easier it is for me to shop and know exactly what I want."
Key style pieces: Blush, feminine silhouettes, delicate details, investment bags
See also: Olivia Palermo, Jenny of "Margo and Me", Lauren Conrad, Krystin of "Suburban Faux Pas"

Boho Chic
Key Influencer: Paolo Alberdi of "BlankItinerary"

Who's that girl? Fashion influencer, stylist, designer and creative director of
Where can I find her? Roaming Coachella or the streets of LA
How does she describe her style? "I would say my personal style is mixing highs and lows, combining basics in every way possible and also playing around with textures and prints every once in a while. I love to try out new trends and adapt them to my style and create my own."
Key style pieces: Suede, neutral colors, long-line jackets, sunnies, hats
See also: Sienna Miller, Kate Bosworth, Jules of "Sincerely Jules"

Edgy Basics
Key Influencer: Gigi Hadid

Who's that girl? International fashion model
Where can I find her? Hitting the hottest runways and the pavement
How does she describe her style? "It's funny because it's definitely different when I'm in New York or when I'm home in California. I think that kind of take on two different personalities in those two places through my style. In California I'm more of a beach chick and I kind of take on a model city girl when I'm in New York."
Key style pieces: Bomber jackets, ripped denim, monotone outfits, sneakers, basic tshirts
See also: Ashley Benson, Kendall Jenner, Cara of "Cara Loren"

What Sarah Loves - May

What Sarah Loves - May

May's roundup is all about the softness that comes with Spring: both fabric- and color- wise. This time of the year is when I start to get excited about being outdoors constantly. The farmer markets begin to pop up, lunchtime becomes a chance to walk the city, and - if you're lucky enough - Sunday mornings are best spent on a patio with a great book in hand.

I've been loving the Pantone colors of the year since they were announced but am officially embracing them in my wardrobe. This pale blue dress just screams Southern living to me and is perfect for horse racing season. Just add an oversized hat and a glass of rose!

My Fashion Inspiration
My weekend was spent unplugged in Pittsburgh. I drove out on Friday for a few days relaxing with family and friends. I love living in a city where I walk everywhere, but it was so nice to get back into a car and just drive (with a good playlist and iced coffee, nonetheless). I shared glasses of wine, caught up on conversations and congratulations, and indulged in some mexican food and gourmet grilled cheese. Now it's time to get back on track and reignite my creativity.

A leopard fold over clutch has been on my list for a while + this version is a thrifty one for the Clare V!
WISH WISH WISH's hen party (aka a bachelorette) is too cute! Loving the matching bombers
Speaking of bomber jackets, I'm still on the hunt for a Gigi inspired olive one. This one is perfect!
Just ordered these high waisted white jeans. Fingers crossed they're keepers!

Get the Look: Spring Glow Edit

Winter 2015 was all about glitter, smoke, and matte lips. Now that Spring's rolled around I've been craving all things light and fresh. From a flushed cheek to glowing skin, I've been loving a quick-and-easy look.

Once the city starts heating up I automatically switch my foundation towards something more lightweight. The combo of my ItCosmetics CC Cream and NARS creamy concealer leaves for a super hydrated base. I love to top off my eyes with a nude MAC pigment and lots of lashes. Here are the other products I've been using lately:

It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, Vanilla
H&M Cream Blusher, Dusty Rose
Anastasia Brow Pencil, Taupe
MAC Pigment, Tan
Maybelline Lash Sensational, Black
Kylie Liquid Lipstick, Posie K

What do you pull out once the temperatures rise? Is there a change in your routine? Let me know in the comments below!

March Beauty Favorites

It's never too late for March favorites, right? Hopefully your answer was 'no!' on that one. This is one of my favorite times of the year for beauty. Spring always makes me feel my most feminine, both in fashion and makeup. It's no surprise that my favorite pieces reflect that.

Kylie Jenner Liquid Lipstick, Koko K (full review here)

As stated in my review, I'm not one to fall in love with nude shades but this one's been wearing on me. I find the pale pink shade to fit my complexion well and that it looks super fresh on the lips. I personally can only wear it for an hour or two - just because of my personal preference - but it is gorgeous when it's on! I have a feeling her matte shades will come super handy again come winter.

NYX Slim Eye Pencil, White
Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize, Mona Lisa

Totally just realized that this NYX pencil was a star in last month's favorite. Basically I've been wearing it in my waterline non-stop. I find it to be the perfect oomph in attempting to make myself look more awake. The formula is so creamy and long-lasting. This also pairs perfectly with my CT cream shadow in Mona Lisa. This cool-toned brown shade is so gorgeous and easy to wear. I find that it makes my blue eyes pop and I love the fact that I don't have to wear liner with it. I'm seriously stopping myself from snagging each shade in Charlotte's cream shadow collection.

Too Faced Hangover Rx Primer
Dior Nude Air Serum Foundation, Light Beige (full review here)
Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette (full review here)

Speaking of repeat favorite offenders: my TooFaced primer and Dior foundation are back again! This combination makes my skin so utterly happy! It gives such a fresh glow and is quick to apply. Once my base is set, I apply a pop of a "Cherry" and "Easy" from my UD x Gwen palette. This combo has been my absolute favorite and gives such a pretty glow. I find the formulas to be extremely pigmented and creamy for that Spring flush.

What have you been loving lately? Do any of your favorites mimic mine? Don't worry, April favorites will be here soon enough! Although I honestly feel like these products may still carry through...

Warmer weather has FINALLY arrived in DC and I couldn't be more excited! This weekend was filled with a beerfest at Nationals Park, outdoor smoothies, lots of walks, and some organization. After another predictably busier workweek it'll be off to Pittsburgh for a weekend of catching up with family and friends. Bring on the road trip snacks and windows down!

These lace-up Steve Madden sandals are on my essential Summer wish list.
Here are 63 temporary wallpapers that are a renter's dream.
Welcome Spring with these 30 dinner recipes. I've made the asian chicken lettuce wraps and the greek kale and quinoa salad - so good!
Scouting for a new pink/grey rug and this one's amazing (and on sale)
