September Favorites

Even looking at this picture just makes me happy. I'm officially a crazy person: makeup makes me happy. Whoops. But really, this month's picks are so good! All of these products give that flawless face, soft lip, and sharp eye...

Face
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, Custard
Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector, Champagne Pop
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, Dim Light

I'm currently testing out the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer but keep missing my NARS one. It is such a perfect consistency to cover up any dark circles or blemishes, and I don't find it to be drying for me. I have a feeling I'll be picking up another tube from Bleeker Street when were in NYC this weekend | The Champagne Pop hype is real people! And I'm totally into it. If you've ever seen Jaclyn's glow you know that this stuff is worth it. It gives the perfect peachy/golden glow to my cheekbones and I also apply it to my inner eye and brow bone. As the queen herself would say: YAAASSS! | The ambient lighting powder is a cult classic, and for a good reason. I love how large the original product is (not the palette) and I've been using it as a setting powder for my makeup. It gives the perfect airbrushed look and is so lightweight - it barely feels like you're wearing anything

Lips
Milani Color Moisture Matte Lipstick, Matte Darling
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss, Pango Peach
Too Faced La Creme Lipstick, Nude Beach

This Milani pick was a last minute grab-and-go at my local CVS. I'm not one for Matte lipsticks usually, but I couldn't resist this one after I swatched it. It is not over-drying, has the perfect flush of color, and the packaging itself is just gorgeous. I'm hoping my store stocks up on more colors of these so I can stack them up (especially since they're only $4!) | I was on my way to the beach when my NARS gloss in Super Orgasm exploded. Literally, the top cracked open and gloss was everywhere. After only having it for a month, I was a bit disappointed. However I saw this shade at the drugstore and was in awe of how perfect the color matches up to my NARS favorite. This gloss is so silky - without being sticky - and is super long lasting | I raved about the Too Faced La Creme lipsticks in my latest post but this shade takes the cake. I never thought I could find a nude color that worked without draining me out. The hint of peach in this shade does the trick, and it just smells so good!

Eyes
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, Trooper
Loreal 24-Hour Infallible Eyeshadow, Bronzed Taupe

Kat Von D's line has been killin' it lately, and this eyeliner is a major part of it. It's super easy to apply, allows for precise application, is jet black in color, and stays all day long! I honestly don't think I can find anything better at this price point, so I can see myself loving this for a while. Plus it has made getting that perfect 'flick' somewhat simple? What?! | You know how I love me a bronzed eye. This stuff is so velvety smooth and pigmented. I've been applying it with my fingers to my lids and blending it out for a soft smokey look. The color lasts all day long and doesn't lose it's metallic look. I also love how it feels like a sponge when you dab your finger in - so I have a feeling it'll last for a long time!

Do any of your favorites for September match up with mine? If not, what have you been loving? Can't wait for the fall shades in October to roll through!

Ulta Haul

Let's face it: I'm a major Sephora addict. I blame it on the store's proximity to both my apartment and my office, and really the large and bright atmosphere. However, any chance I have to explore Ulta is one I'll definitely take. Going to Ulta brings back memories of my first experiences with makeup. I would go into the store and snag up all of the Lancome Juicy Tubes I could find. I remember them being $18 and thinking of how utterly absurd it was, but still picking up a tube to reapply during middle school. If only middle school Sarah saw my beauty spending now...

Thankfully an ULTA store opened back home so it never fails that I hop in my parents car on holidays and find myself there. I love that they have brands that I can't normally find in Sephora or the local drugstore - or at least a much wider range of products. Some of my favorite brands there are NYX, It Cosmetics, and even the ULTA line. This past trip I picked up a few goodies that I can't wait to incorporate into beauty looks coming up...

OPI Soft Shades Nail Lacquer in Sweet Heart
NYX Infinite Shadow Stick in Bronze
Ulta Double Duty Wet and Dry Powder Foundation in Light
Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lip Cream in Bumbleberry

My two favorites are definite the shadow stick (see swatch below) and the lip cream. For anyone looking to try a new lip product, you HAVE to snag this one from Too Faced! I'm having a major moment with them lately and these just sealed the deal for me. The packaging is gorgeous, the color range is awesome (20+ choices), and the consistency is so buttery and light. Plus how cute is the packaging? I've picked up two shades so far and have a few more added to my list: mainly Spice Spice Baby, Juicy Melons, and Jelly Bean.

Have you tried any products from ULTA lately? What have been your favorites?

Weekly Favorites: Week of 9.27.15.

This weekend was the first annual Landmark Music Festival in DC. I bought tickets months ago in hopes that good weather and artists would find their way, and thankfully I wasn't disappointed. Throughout the two days out in West Potomac Park I saw tons of great acts: U.S. Royalty, The Mowgli's, Daughter, Band of Horses, Ben Howard, Nate Ruess, Miguel, The War on Drugs, Erik Hassle, Drake, Houndmouth, Lord Huron, Chromeo, George Ezra, and CHVRCHES. The festival itself was started as a kickstarter to a national campaign to bring awareness and funds to the National Mall - or "America's Front Yard" as they described it.

We were blessed with minimal rain, cool air, and awesome views of the monuments that surrounded us - and even got a glance of the Supermoon during the final acts on Sunday night. Check out some of the snapshots from the weekend below!

This week the good music continues with a Ben Rector (my all time favorite) concert on Wednesday, and an Emily Hearn concert on Friday. Somehow late September/early October always brings the best artists to the area and it makes me thankful that I am able to access all of the acts - most of them just by hopping on the metro.

What are you looking forward to this week? Have you seen any great concerts lately?

The Ten: Summer 2015

Shopping for Fall staples had me thinking: what were some of the the best investments I made this Summer? With this, I wanted to introduce a new series on the blog: The Ten. These are the ten items that are compiled at the end of each season that I have continued to love throughout the three to four months. They're my go-to's. The ones I first grabbed from my closet and knew will work without fail.

  1. Plain White T-Shirt I seriously have 3-4 plain white shirts in my closet that I rotated through this summer. They're the perfect way to stay cool while also being pulled together. This one from J Crew is so soft and lightweight. I definitely am going to be stocking up on more for next year
  2. Lime Satchel Handbag Chartreuse was my color of the season. When I first saw this bag in Target at the beginning of June, I knew I had to have it. It's the perfect size for toting things around and had a ton of compartments. I also love any bag that has handles for wearing around your arm crease, but that can also be strapped around your shoulder. The best part is that the bag was less than $30 and still looks brand new (which is impressive, considering the amount of Amtrak and MegaBus trips it took)
  3. Perforated Midi Skirt Speaking of my color of the season, can we talk about this skirt? Not joking, I probably wore it once a week. It was the perfect length, material, and color to last me through the summer. Loft always pulls through with great skirts. Unfortunately this one looks unavailable, but I look forward to seeing what they release next summer.
  4. Lace Up Sandals I ended up buying these shoes at the end of summer, but wish I had gotten them at the beginning. Lace up shoes were everywhere this summer and I was completely on the bandwagon. These were the best shoes to wear when I wanted to look pulled together, yet remain comfortable.
  5. Lace Midi Skirt Another midi skirt (we're not done yet). This one's kind of a cheat item, but I still felt like it needed to be included. I bought this probably three years ago and continue to love it. It has the softest lace on the outside and is so easy to pair with a basic tee, or a chambray shirt as the temperatures dropped. It is just a feminine piece that is so easy to wear.
  6. Graphic Tees I don't know why, but I always am drawn to graphic tees. I think they are just so easy to put an outfit together with and add personality to an outfit. I found this sparkly pineapple shirt at the end of Summer and wore it nonstop. It's so soft yet is so fun!
  7. Bold Brow Sunglasses I am a major sunglass hoarder. I easily have 20+ pairs, yet found myself drawn to these black and gold ones from Urban Outfitters. They're a bit more rounded than I usually wear but I love how dark the lenses are. I also find the frames to be great quality - which can be hard to find on a budget.
  8. Hot Pink Purse This purse was a big moment for me: my first Kate Spade. Granted it was a bit of an impulse purchase (on sale, hot pink. Who can say no?) but I love the pop of color it added to simple outfits. It's definitely not a color I can wear year round, but I love how it stands out during Summer.
  9. Floral Midi Skirt Sarah, another midi, really? Yes. I just love them. I bought this one online from Groopdealz and was so surprised at it's quality. It is an elastic waistband (which can either work in your favor or not) and I've found it to never stretch out throughout the day. The fabric itself is also a heavier weight so I didn't have to worry about it flying around in the summer breeze.
  10. Tan Sandals I'll be honest, I'm wearing these shoes right now at the end of September. These are my go-to slip on and run out the door shoes and I love them for that.
I think it'll be so exciting to see how my favorites change throughout the seasons, and years. I always feel like the things I think are going to be my everyday pieces change as the time goes on.

What did you love in Summer? Think you'll love them again next year?

Birchbox Unboxed | September

Another month, another box. I especially loved this month's Birchbox since it included products from five companies that I've never used before. One of my favorite things about these subscription services is exactly that: getting exposed to brands that you wouldn't normally look for. Plus, how cute is the box this month? As part of Birchbox's five year anniversary they created the design based off on mood boards from subscribers.

100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream Eye Cream is one of those things that I always want to get into, but forget to apply. I have limited to applying this only in the morning (in fear of it keeping me up at night) but I love the instant pick-me-up this provides. With active ingredients of coffee and green tea, this diminishes fine lines and puffiness. I also love the cooling effect it provided - which adds a kick to my morning! I'm interested to try this through the next few weeks to see how it reacts.

Histoires de Parfums 1969 I have been loving the perfume that's been coming in my box. This one first came off a bit too sweet for me, but does mellow out a few minutes after spraying. With spicy top notes and a warm chocolate base, this scent definitely warms your lungs a bit. I also love how this is a scent that works best for men and woman (since I tend to go towards more masculine smells).

treStiQue Correct & Cover Concealer Crayon in Light This is definitely my favorite of the bunch. I wouldn't normally use this as my daily concealer, but it's perfect for spot treating. I have been using it on top of super dark circles, any blemishes, and to clean up any eye makeup mistakes. It's the best addition to my handbag since it can easily be used on the go! I also love how this has a thicker consistency and is so blend-able.

Laura Geller Beauty Baked Highlighter As a highlighter aficionado, I was super excited to try this one. If you're looking for a high intensity glow (think Champagne Pop or Mary Lou Manizer) then this won't be up your alley. However, it is perfect if you want something more subtle. It gives your skin a perfect sheen without being glittery or overdone. I think this would look beautiful on pale skin for a winter look so I'm excited to try it out later in the season.

PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Smoothing Blowout Spray My hair is pretty sensitive when it comes to products, so I try not to incorporate too many things into my routine beyond my MoroccanOil. I sprayed a bit into my hair before blowdrying and found that it kept my hair super tamed throughout the next few days. It smoothed things out and had a great smell - accents of ripe peach, cut grass, and white woods. I also was able to curl my hair the first day and then let it set into a really nice wave over the next two days. I can't wait to continue using this and am interested to see if it fights against heat damage (something my Oil doesn't necessarily do).

Most loved product: I couldn't decide between the treStiQue Correct & Cover Concealer Crayon or the PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Smoothing Blowout Spray, so they both win! (the crayon may have a slight edge)
Most disappointing product: I don't think there was a product that I truly disliked this month. However, I would probably be least likely to buy the Histoires de Parfumes 1969.

Did you receive your box? Or have you tried any of these products? What's your favorite?

Weekend Update

It's official: Fall is here. The drop in temperatures this week has got me all excited for the season. I've been able to slide on some boots, throw on a cozy sweater, and start drinking everything pumpkin (i'm talking coffee, yogurt, and beers). For the first time in a while I feel super prepared going into next week: thanks to the Pope coming into town and allowing me to work from home for two days! I used every second to prep some major blog stuff and am so excited to start getting back on a regular schedule.

Next week is going to be a crazy, but good, one. I'm spending the weekend at the Landmark Festival in DC - which is a two day/five stage concert with acts such as Ben Howard, The Mowglis, The Strokes, alt-J, CHVRCHES, Band of Horses, Miguel, Chromeo....the list goes on. It's the first of its type in the District so it should be really fun. Next week starts off with post-work conference calls and then rolls into another two concerts. This time it's Ben Rector and then Emily Hearn: two of my absolute favorites. On Friday I head out to New York with Faith to explore the city and celebrate a friend's birthday. Oof, bring on the coffee and music!

Do you have any exciting plans for the weekend? Anyone else attending the Landmark festival? Let me know below!

Tips for Investing in Makeup

In the beauty world it seems that a few products come out that gets everyone buzzing. These are those things that fly off of the shelves, pop up on blogs everywhere, and are considered 'staples' in your makeup repertoire. The bigger question is, are they really worth the investment?

I think it's definitely smart to swatch, Google, and do some overall research on a product before you purchase. Sometimes what works for one person may not work for another - and that's okay! But before you drop $50+ on a product it's good to know exactly what you're in for. Here are some of my go-to tips...

Ask Around: This one's a no-brainer for me as I have a few friends who also are deeply in love with makeup. They're always my best source for honest advice and usually have a good idea of whether or not something is worth purchasing. The best part is that sometimes they'll even let you test it out if they already own it!

Look at Vlogs/Blogs: Some beauty bloggers have access to the best products - and get to test them out way before they are officially released to the public. This gives them a "one up" on other sites because they usually have been wearing the products for a longer period. Also, most of these sources have a wide range of each product (i.e. several foundations, lipsticks, bronzers...) so they can give you a realistic comparison of other brands.

Google It: I Google everything. I mean, everything. It's the easiest way to see several sources all in one place and to get an unbiased review. I usually look through the images to see swatches and then browse through a few sites. Through Google I was introduced to one of my favorite review sites: Temptalia (http://www.temptalia.com/). If there's a new release, they usually have it on there and usually also have a dupe or two listed.

Sample, Sample, Sample: Sephora is really great with letting customers try things. Not only can you go into the stores and swatch things (which I always recommend), but you can also usually ask for a small sample size. This is usually best for things like foundations and face products. Another recommendation is to check out the mini section near the register. A lot of the bigger lines carry small travel sized versions of their best-selling products - for much less! This way you can test everything out before you invest in the full size.

Let's chat! Is there a specific process you follow before investing in a beauty product? What splurge item are you looking forward to adding to your routine?

Tuesday's Top Picks

Fall Essentials

Next week myself and Faith are heading to New York City for a quick getaway - and to celebrate our friend's birthday. This feels like the perfect opportunity to pop out all of my favorite fall finds (and to purchase some of those staples). The 70s are definitely back in trend and i've never been more excited. I love the boho feel and how timeless and effortless it can be. This outfit is the perfect transition piece for running around the city, touring local vineyards, or catching a dinner with friends. The best part is that all of these pieces can be mixed-and-matched to carry through the next few seasons...

1. Structured Felt Hatfind a color that works best for your complexion and hair color. Sometimes it's best to contrast completely (think black on light hair) or you can go the opposite and blend it in seamlessly (think tan if you're a blonde)
2. Flowy Peasant Top | Find a light fabric with delicate details. This will complement the structure of the skirt and will add a great 70s vibe
3. A-Line Suede Skirt | If a tan coloring is too boho for you, stick with black (it'll also look great with tights as it gets colder). This one from Alexa Chung is super feminine with it's A-line silhouette
4. Simple Watch | Daniel Wellington has some great choices for something that's work appropriate and can carry over into the night. Iphone who?
5. Over-the-Knee Suede Boots | Stick with a flat version to keep things casual. Also, try to find a version with a zipper if you want them to last longer - they're also easier to take on and off after a long day
6. Geometric Gold Earrings | I love these simple triangle studs - they would look great peeking out of hair, or even with a loose ponytail. I also enjoy pairing this outfit with long delicate earrings
7. Merlot Lipstick | This trend has been all over the runway lately and is that perfect pop of color. Best part is that it'll complement any late afternoon red wine encounters

Weekly Favorites: Week of 9.20.15.

Wait, we're in the 20s of September ALREADY?! I swear this month just began and yet here we are, creeping into October. October is my favorite month of the year so I'm ecstatic about all of the fun things coming up: trips to NYC and PA, concerts, festivals, wineries, and everything else that comes along. Before I indulged in my first Pumpkin Spice latte (which surprisingly has yet to happen...) I spent the weekend at the shore at our good friend's wedding. It was awesome to cap off the summer with some beach time and relaxation. Now I'm ready to get back on track with things and embrace the cooler months. Get ready for a month full of original content and regular postings!

FOTD: The Glam Picks

Ever find products that just feel glamorous? These are them for me. I'm talking high-end packaging, the perfect application, and major glowy payoff. Last weekend I used the last of my birthday money to go a little crazy at Sephora (I mean, like batsh*t crazy). Maybe it's my love of vlogs and blogs in general, but I usually end up heading into the store with a laundry list of the exact products and shades I need. I apologize for all of the sales associates who I huffed at when asked if I needed help. Yup, I'm a tornado - especially when the store is busy (which it was on this rainy day).

I can't rave enough about these. I feel like majority of them will pop up in my September favorites, but I'm loving them for the meantime.

Anastasia Brow Wiz
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer
NARS Blush, Orgasm
Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick, Matte Darling
Becca x Jaclyn Hill Highlighter, Champagne Pop
Too Faced Hangover Face Primer
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, Trooper
BellaPierre Powder Dome Brush

Somebody hold me hostage from Sephora from here til Christmas (or at least for another week or so...) Now, what have you been loving? Do tell...

P.S. I'm heading off to home and the beach for the weekend. Be sure to stay tuned in via Instagram (@sarahmariewagner) for updates!

Weekly Favorites: Week of 9.13.15.

As much as everyone is speaking about Fall rollin' around, today is the first day it feels like it. There's a cold bite in the air, I can comfortable wear a jacket, and the PSL is calling my name! This past week was the perfect sayonara to Summer: filled with exploring the city, al fresco happy hours, and reminiscing on my favorite Summer moments. I'm heading home on Wednesday and cannot wait! It'll be the first time back since May so it's been a long time coming. After relaxing for a day or two, my family and I are heading to Long Beach Island for a wedding of one of our good family friends. We'll spend the weekend at the beach and enjoying the solitude from the city. It sounds like the perfect ending to a great summer.

With the new season rolling around, I've been in the mood to completely revamp everything on the blog-front. I've been in somewhat of a creative slump lately and I think it's because I've been straying away from the aesthetics that I originally started this blog with. After re-following some creative and colorful geniuses on Instagram (check out the "Color Play" list on the main feed if you're interested in joining), I'm so excited to start introducing a new vibe around here. Albeit, you'll still be seeing the same content but with a bit of pop.

In the meantime, here are some snaps from my Instagram feed - and a brief view into what's to come. I also have some super exciting projects in the works so stay tuned!

Photos (I) We have been looking to visit these Colette Miller wings in DC for the longest time, and finally got around to doing so last weekend. They're beyond gorgeous and were the perfect complement to my breezy outfit (maxi from Old Navy and top from Lulus) | My mouth is watering looking at these again. If you haven't been to American Ice Co in DC, go ASAP! Make sure you order the swatchos and a pitcher of Narragansatt | Weekend essentials lately have been consisting of brown eye hues, the September issues, and a bottle of JRINK | Reminiscing over my trip earlier this summer to OBX. Seriously, it was the perfect vacation and I feel like I need to schedule a repeat soon
Photos (II) My never-fail makeup routine lately (you can see the full listing here!) | Fall colors are starting to pop up around the local farm stands and I can't be more excited | Another OBX moment (yup, I really love that place) | The Stila lip cream has become one of my new favorites. I also am forcing myself to cook more; enter EatingWell with the most delicious looking recipes

What was your favorite part of the weekend? What are you looking forward to this Fall? Mine is the several road trips I have planned up North! Let me know - I'd love to hear all about it!

#TBT Summer Style: A Few of My Favorite Things

"Dear Summer: as magical as you are I think it's time we took a break. Don't take this the wrong way, there are so many things I love about you but I've been having a love affair with fall..."

I know I've been harping on Fall lately and how excited I am, but I wanted to say one last farewell to the warmer months. I've been keeping a running tally of the things that I love most about summer on my phone, since I feel like I tend to rush through the seasons sometimes. Every time I had a really good "summery" day I would put an item or so on the list to represent it. Looking back on the list now I realize what a great summer it was (minus the humidity) and it will be bittersweet to say goodbye.

  • Fish tacos
  • Sitting on the patio with a glass of wine
  • Iced coffee with a shot of caramel
  • A swipe of coral lipstick
  • The first time your toes touch the sand
  • Spending all day floating
  • Coconut scented sunscreen
  • Ice cream cone with rainbow sprinkles
  • Cool showers (especially outdoor)
  • Shark week
  • Blasts of cold AC after a hot day
  • Bright blue water
  • The cooling of aloe vera
  • Long days with sunsets
  • Going fishing - and catching your dinner!
  • Road trips with the windows down
  • Reggae music in the sun
  • Bonfires
  • Picking up summer produce at the farm stand
  • Sunkissed hair tucked into braids
  • Hot dogs at baseball games
  • The smell of newly cut grass
  • Mango salsa
  • Highlighter on tanned skin
  • Fireworks that light up the sky
  • Fresh cut flower crowns
  • Finding the perfect pair of reflective sunglasses
  • The sound of waves crashing

Thankfully I do have one last beach trip next weekend before I put away the sundresses and sandals. What are you going to miss most about Summer?

P.S. Lets have ourselves a little #TBT, shall we! Be sure to check out some of my favorite summer posts below...

Old Navy Bringin' the New Trends

Even just looking at these photos makes me so excited for Fall. Although I usually live in bright colors during Spring/Summer, there's always something refreshing about throwing on some cozy neutrals when the leaves start to fall. Old Navy has been slaying the "New Arrivals" category lately so I decided to pick out some of my favorite pieces to share.

This is one of those brands that I flocked to as a kid, fell out of in my teen years, and am absolutely loving again. Not only have they caught up with the trends, they also keep everything at a super reasonable price point. The best part is that all of these pieces can transition from the early days of September all the way through winter – just add some layers!

Here are some of my favorite outfit ideas using the new arrivals:

Daytime (casual Friday favorites that are perfect for running around town): high-rise soft pants + favorite jean jacket + white boyfriend tee + cognac tote + canvas sneakers

Weekend (think of a trip to the winery and apple picking): plaid shirt dress + tan ankle boots + felt floppy hat + faux-leather backpack

Going out (when you want to look cool, but remain warm): draped jumpsuit + lace cami braclassic blazer + leopard clutch

Which out of the three looks would you want to have? What pieces are you looking forward to pulling out?

Be sure to shop some of my favorites in the links below!

FOTD: Bare Minimum

Hello September! My, am I glad to see you. Although the calendar shows that we're nearing the cooler months - the temperature certainly hasn't reflected it yet. This past weekend was spent soaking up the last moments of summer: complete with watermelon margaritas, dinner near the harbor, and some inner-city hiking in the warm sun.

With all things humid still looming, I've been keeping things fairly minimal and light on the makeup front.I have a feeling the dewy skin trend is here to stay and I'm totally on board. My Loreal Infallible foundation has been on a steady repeat, along with "Blunt" eyeshadow by Urban Decay.

However, I can't wait to swap the bronzer for rosy cheeks and to put away the pink glosses for a berry lipstick. Something about the changing season always brings a love of switching things up!

How was your Labor Day? Hopefully filled with sun, relaxation, and some good clothing snags with all of the deals going on.

August Favorites

August was such a good month for makeup. Some trends just don't necessarily work for me or my skin, and it's okay to recognize that. However the whole dewy skin, bronzed eye, and full brow look that's going on right now is totally up my alley. With August came the lovely thing called Summer Fridays. Ever heard of them? For some people it was a day to lay out by the pool, sleep in late, and soak in the overall laziness of the long days. For me it was an excuse to #GSD and somehow or another I always fond myself walking over to my local Sephora. Frankly I think it's to blame for my recent love of watching vlogs and seeing them introduce all of the new lines.

Each girl has different features and makeup habits, so it's always fun to see what works for one may not work for the other. All of these products are new acquires - and I think they'll be here to stay for a while (along with the Summer trends):

Anastasia Brow Wiz in Taupe This product has been a beauty cult item for what seems like ages. However, I like my brows to be clean and filled in - and it seemed like this product wasn't going to be a good substitute for the namesake brow pomade. Thankfully I've found that this product works in perfect unison with the pomade. I use the spoolie to brush my brows into place, fill in with my pomade, and then clean everything up with the Brow Wiz. The small applicator does the best job at getting clean lines and honestly I'd buy the spoolie on its own, if it was sold that way! It's amazing how products can work in totally different ways than you originally purchase them for.

NYX "Set It and Don't Fret It" Matte Finishing Powder I feel like having a matte powder in this collection counteracts the whole 'dewy love' approach, but this is different. Although the powder promises a matte finish, it doesn't take away the highlight of my skin. I usually apply it on a large fluffy brush in the morning to set my makeup. I then reapply midday to freshen up my skin and limit any overly shiny spots on my face. This particular product also comes in three colors (I bought the lighter one) and they have an 'invisible' option if you don't want any color. NYX, you've done it again.

Stila "Stay All Day" Liquid Lipstick in Venezia When I first wrote about this product in my Birchbox unboxed, I wasn't a huge fan. However, the more that i've been trying out this formula the more i've been enjoying it. I do feel it still is a bit drying, but I've been adding a thin layer of chapstick under the application to smooth things out a bit. I think the biggest selling point for me on this one is the color. Anytime I apply it, I can't stop looking at the bold shade and feel like it works even better as my summer tan is fading.

Loreal Brow Stylist Plumper in Light/Medium Out of all of the products in the lineup this month, this one may be my favorite. A brow gel? Really? Yes. I never knew how much of a difference a gel can made until I finally gave this a shot. With a quick run through my brows, it keeps everything in place throughout the entire day. Forewarning: the product can be a bit of an overkill if you apply too much. I find that I wipe all of the sides off on the side of the tube before I apply, and it's more than enough. I also use this on its own when i'm looking for a more natural look. Bonus is that this also comes in three shades and is perfect for any brow color.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Amethyst I'll admit, I really wanted the Ombre Blackstar by Terry from seeing it all over the UK beauty blogs. However, getting it in the states is a tad bit more difficult. When I spotted this number from the Laura Mercier counter at Sephora, I thought i'd give it a whirl! Although the color range is a bit less impressive than the Ombre Blackstar sticks - I'm still looking for a bronze/brown shimmer shade - my eyes did draw to Amethyst (a soft mauve with pearl). After swatching, I knew it was a winner. The color payoff of these are amazing and they're so easy to apply. Also, when I say they last all day I mean seriously ALL DAY (enter Schmidt quote here).

What did you love about August? I seriously can't wait until next month's favorites when fall beauty rolls in! Bring on the berry lip and smoky eyes.
