Pastels with a Pop!

Easter is almost here and comes with it are pretty pastels, grassy egg hunts, and all of the chocolate you can eat! I feel like it's just norm in our culture that holidays revolve around the different foods we eat during the celebrations, and I'm okay with that. This weekend I'll be traveling to my sister Kelly and brother-in-law Andrew's house to celebrate. It'll be their first time hosting a family holiday and we've got a packed house (including my puppy brother Cooper and his sister Nittany - who's Andrew's family pet).

Weekly Favorites: Week of 3.29.15.

Two days left in March.....oi vey. April for me always represents that true beginning of Spring and signs of the warmer seasons. Although we have had nicer days in DC, the weather can tend to be a bit sporadic. Cue the snowflakes that started falling on Saturday.

Weekend Update

Happy Saturday! Usually my weekend posts are about the things I'm looking forward to. However, this week I decided to look back on the things that made my week just a bit better. When I'm stressed out I think it's super important to always focus on the positive things that are happening - whether they're big or super small. Sometimes it's easy to get wrapped up in the chaotic nature of life but I've been spending time each day writing down the 'peaks' before I hit the bed.

Here are the things this week that made this week a good one:
  • Rooftop bars are open, ladies and gents!
  • Actually making it to spin class all three days
  • Sunshine for majority of the week
  • Successfully making a (semi) perfect custom pizza at Fuel - pesto, artichokes, goat cheese, red pepper flakes, and arugula *drooling*
  • Found the strappy shoes I've been looking for
  • ...and the perfect blush top
  • Posted content for ya'll 6/7 days (this is a big one)
  • Snagged the birthday frappe from Starbucks (gotta keep dat Gold standard someway)
  • Finished Mindy Kalings book, and laughing from the first to last page
  • Knowing that although Zayn left, there's still four members left in 1D

Hope you all have a great weekend filled with friends, bubbly, and dancing!

Light vs. Bright: Topshop Edition

I feel like the decision between keeping things light vs. bright is a daily question in my mind. Ultimately the two sides remind me of my personality.

One being a sense of having a feminine touch...
  • Fresh flowers and candles are necessary in the apartment at all times
  • I spend more money on lip glosses than groceries
  • If I don't feel 'ready', my day is already ruined
  • Bubble baths + macarons = heaven
....and the other being a fun and lively side...
  • Neon is the new black
  • Margaritas cure all woes
  • Dancing is the best form of exercise
  • If you don't get sour candies on your fro-yo, you're doing it wrong

Feelin' the Florals

Today I was talking with my friend about the 'color-of-the-season' while browsing for finds at TJ Maxx. Usually this is a color you find yourself stocking up on each season - and you're not really sure why. Last Spring this color for me was coral. This past Fall? Olive.

This year I've been finding myself going more for a 'print-of-the-season' approach. My closet filled up with basic stripes this past Winter, and I already am finding myself loading up on the florals this Spring. Floral prints have always been some of my favorites. I feel like they can be extremely versatile between pattern mixing or a statement piece. The darker hued florals tend to be a bit more boho - while the lighter hued florals feminine and delicate. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of black prints gracing the pages of the glossies come festival season.

Weekly Favorites: Week of 3.22.15.

We're officially in the end of March, which means the true Spring months are right around the corner. Despite the colder temperatures today I'm already feeling like the warmer season has arrived. Saturday for me was spent at Shamrockfest - which was five stages of great music. I got to see one of my favorite bands from high school (Reel Big Fish) and from college (Go Go Gadget) so it was a flashback overall. Speaking of flashbacks, the weather was a 'balmy' 60-degrees so I was able to go coatless for majority of the day. Win win.

Weekend Update

 Images via Pinterest

Spring has officially sprung. Contrary to this: it is dark, dreary, and even snowy outside. On the plus side it's supposed to be 60+ degrees tomorrow in DC so there's something to look forward to! Talk about weather flip-flop.

I'm excited to spend my weekend catching up on a few things and spending time outdoors. I'm looking to snag some early morning breakfast (the cafe around the corner has the best acai bowls), shoot some photos for future posts, and then head to a a big St. Patricks Day (yes, celebrating still) with a group of my friends. With lots of live music, people, and green beer, then energy is sure to be up.

Inspiration-wise I've been definitely leaning towards the softer palette of Spring. Lots of neutrals, blush tones, and making everything look clean. Next on my agenda will be a Spring clean-out to get ready for Summer fashion. I've also been very lackadaisical with keeping up with Youtube tutorials: both makeup and hair. I'm looking to attempt to recreate some of the biggest trends for Spring. Think braids, shimmery copper eyes, and pink lips.

Have any exciting plans for the weekend? Hope it's a good one!

Blackberry and Meyer Lemon Gin + Tonic

Thirsty Thursday is already here! As some of you know I had given up soda for lent. That means I had to find a substitute for my go-to of Whiskey and diet. Recently I've been on a gin and tonic kick so once I stumbled across this recipe I knew I had to make it on my own. Not only does it incorporate a lot of great flavors, it also is super refreshing!

Weekly Favorites: Week of 3.15.15.

Four days of not posting in the blogging world feels like missing a lifetime. Lately I've been feeling super busy with everything so I needed a few days to unwind. Thanks to lots of time with friends, lack of alarm clocks, spin classes, and Lush bubble baths, I feel revived. Using this new-found energy I've decided to finally take the plunge on registering the site as an official 'dot com'. When I started this blog I was unsure if it would last a day, a week, or even a month. Although the creativity can be hard to find after a long day at work it's definitely something I still look forward to. Welcome to withlove-fromsarah.com! Now you can use less letters to get to the same great content.

Weekend Update

Another week is in the books, ladies and gentlemen. As much as I've been bragging about the warmer/sunnier weather this week I can't help but still be excited that it's finally sunny! Unfortuantely it's set to rain here tomorrow but Sunday is prepping to be a gorgeous day.

Leather Sleeved

A major TBT moment is happening right now. Yes, all of this snow was around last Thursday. Now it's 60 degrees out and I can comfortably walk outside without a coat.

The change in the temperature always seems to be the time when I embrace my jackets. Normally I'm not a fan of coats, but they do know how to make a statement. I snagged this leather-sleeved one from H&M earlier this season and have been in love with it since. It's the perfect transition through the seasons and the leather adds an edgy element. I paired it with my black skinnies, a graphic tee, and a messy bun for a casual work-from-home day. I also think it'll work well with a black mini and sandals for those cooler summer nights.

Spring Fling

Spring Fling 2

Spring has always been one of my favorite seasons for fashion. Not only does it bring Fashion Week, it also allows the ability to dig your lighter layers out of the closet and mix-and-match your season pieces. I feel like I've been building my Spring wish list for a while now. Maybe it's the hope that warmer weather is on its way but I feel like the timing has been well overdue.

February Favorites

I realize that I'm a little late in the game for February favorites but it's the thought that counts, right? Last month I incorporated a few new products into my daily beauty routine and also continued to be in love with my cult favorites. I've always been one for a smokey eye but lately have been softening things up. My eyes are one of my favorite features so I've always had fun playing them up - explaining why three of my favorite products revolve around my peepers...

Weekly Favorites: Week of 3.8.15.

I don't know about you but I'm seriously loving this warmer weather. I can't believe less than a week ago we got four inches of snow and now I'm in light layers. This weekend was the perfect excuse to get out and enjoy the sunshine while also crossing things off of my to-do list. Friday was spent with some homemade buffalo chicken pizza, a glass of wine, and Mockingjay on my screen. I've been excited to see the latest installment of The Hunger Games and it didn't disappoint - except that she's in love with Peeta over Gail. Really, Katniss? Have you seen Liam Hemsworth?! No contest on my part.

Winter Black

Sometimes my favorite outfits come in one color: black. There can be many imitations (I'm looking at you, Elle Woods) but I still think it can be the chicest color. On Thursday we received about four inches of snow and the area was blanketed into a winter wonderland. I knew we had to take advantage of it so during lunchtime me + Lydia strolled around and played in the snow.

Weekend Update

Another week has flown by and we're already at the first weekend of March. Where does time go? I'm planning on using the weekend to catch up on things and relax a bit. It's been a crazy few weeks so the idea of pouring some wine, having a Lush bath bomb, and catching up on my DVR queue sounds perfect. I'm looking forward to heading into Georgetown tomorrow to walk around and pick up a few things. Thankfully the weather is supposed to cooperate so fingers crossed for no more snow!

Do you have any exciting weekend plans? Hope it has some peaceful moments for you as well!

Spring Into Your New Scent with Diptyque

Last Saturday I got the opportunity to attend a Diptyque fragrance event at Nordstrom Pentagon City - hosted by the ever-so-lovely Faith + Ashlyn. This particular Nordstrom just added a beyond beautiful Diptyque display to their store so it was so exciting to see it all come to life (check out my Instagram if you missed this photo)!

We were welcomed to the event with some delicious mocktails, fruit skewers, and a fresh scent floating through the air. I've heard of the Diptyque brand before and always admired their simple yet chic packaging. However, when I got the first sniff of the fragrances I knew we'd be working with some goodies.

Weekly Favorites: Week of 3.1.15.

But actually, where did January and February go? It's hard to believe that March is already here and the transition to Spring has already begun - even though these freezing temperatures and icy grounds aren't showing it. My mind has already ticked into Spring mode and is craving lighter things. I blame it on the warm-weather fashions that are springing into my Inbox and the hope of finally not having to keep my space heater on full blast.

Stripes + Sunshine

Thankfully the sun decided to pop its head out this weekend before Sunday hit us with an icy blast. On Saturday I had a chance to attend a Diptyque fragrance event at Nordstrom in Pentagon City. This outfit was the perfect mix for being able to run around the city like a crazy person, while attempting to not look homeless as I hung out with these uber stylish (and amazing) blogging ladies. I can't wait to share with you the amazing products I snagged while there - look for a post later this week!
